Burj khalifa Dubai | The World Tallest Building

The Burj Khalifa is a stunning feat of architecture and engineering, with two observation decks on the 124th and 148th floors and a restaurant-bar on the 122nd. The world’s tallest building pierces the sky at 828m and opened in January 2010, six years after excavations began. To avoid wait times or expensive fast-track admission, book tickets online as far as 30 days in advance. Note that high humidity often cloaks Burj Khalifa Dubai in a dense haze, making views less than breathtaking.

The world's highest observation platform, though, is called At the Top Sky and is located at 555m on the 148th floor. You'll feel like a VIP upon being welcomed by a Guest Ambassador and treated to soft drinks, coffee and dates in a fancy lounge. Aside from the views, a highlight on this floor is an interactive screen where you 'fly' to different city landmarks by hovering your hands over high-tech sensors. This is followed by a trip down to the 125th floor where another VR experience awaits: A Falcon's Eye View, which lets you see Burj Khalifa Dubai from a bird's-eye perspective.

What to Expect at Burj Khalifa

The Burj Khalifa stands at 829m tall with 160 floors. At the time of completion in 2010, it became known for being,

  • The Tallest building in the world
  • Tallest freestanding structure in the world
  • The building with the highest number of stories in the world
  • Highest outdoor observation deck in the world
  • Tallest service elevator in the world

Even with pre-booked tickets, you should expect a sustainable period of lining up – both to get up the tower (even with lifts that operate at 10m/sec) and down again. Overall your experience will take 1.5 to 2 hours. There are further displays to read on the way out too burj khalifa dubai.

And don’t be confused by your ticket, it may only say Level 124 which is where the lift arrives, but you are entitled to take the internal staircase up to Level 125 – after how many years this still doesn’t seem to be made explicit. Level 125 is a much quieter ane enjoyable experience, but the main outdoor deck which everyone seems to rush to is on Level 124.
